This pairs the two things most visitors come north from Durban for: the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa’s first World Heritage Site, and a Zulu cultural village. It is a long day — about thirteen hours — because St Lucia is two and a half hours up the N2 each way.
The itinerary has two stops. In iSimangaliso the game viewing takes in hippo, zebra, elephant, giraffe and white rhino among others. At DumaZulu Cultural Village the visit covers the traditional village and lodge.
An air-conditioned vehicle and bottled water are included. It is run as a small group. If you would rather not do the drive twice in a day, the St Lucia guide covers staying up there instead and taking the estuary cruise and the Eastern Shores at a normal pace.
